Wild bee house
BeeFriend XL
The BeeFriend XL is designed for many cavity-nesting wild bee species. In nature, these wild bees nest in broken, hollow stalks of plants, feeding tunnels in dead wood or cracks in walls.
Mason bees in spring like to use the reeds with a diameter of 5-10mm.
Natural deadwood holes are made by clean ones Imitated holes in hardwood.
They prefer mason bees or leaf cutter bees, for example. The ideal diameter here is 6 - 9 mm.
The holes in the hardwood block (2-4mm) serve the often smaller summer bees as alternative nesting options, such as scissor bees or holey bees.
The cardboard tubes come from mason beekeeping and are used in the masonry
bee species also gladly accepted as a nesting alternative.
The BeeFriend is equipped with a bird protection grille. The mesh size of 25mm hardly prevents the bees from flying through.
A groove on both sides enables easy attachment or removal, e.g. during the flight time of mason bees.
